The Wüstenrot building in Salzburg demonstrates how vertical perforated metal fins can unite effective sun protection with modern façade architecture.

Sliding shutters or slats? Depending on the requirement regarding design, function and type of building, we use the suitable system. Sliding shutters are a space-saving solution for large façades, while adjustable slats impress by means of flexible light control, especially in office buildings. At the Sales and Financial Center of voestalpine AG, sliding external shading elements made of frameless expanded metal were installed. They not only create comfortable lighting conditions but also give the façade a distinctive, high-quality shimmering appearance thanks to their gold powder-coated finish.
3. Energy efficiency the whole year round
Project reference: Regional Hospital Leoben, Austria (2015)
Sun protection systems have a manifold positive effect on the energy efficiency of buildings. By combining thermal insulation in the winter and protection against heat in the summer, they help stabilise the interior climate all year round and sustainably improve the energy balance of buildings. At the Regional Hospital Leoben, architect Ernst Giselbrecht opted for sun protection using folding sliding shutters made of perforated metal – a solution that meets functional requirements while visibly enhancing the architectural quality of the building.
