Wire mesh is produced by twisting or welding wires. See below for more information on “crimp screens” and “welded screens”.
In Austria, crimp screens are also known as “crimp grids”. Crimp screens are produced by means of twisting pre-crimped (waved) wires. These wires are neither welded nor knotted at the intersections.
The waved wires are twisted crosswise which results in a high degree of stability of the mesh. The number of crimps within a mesh width is determined by the mesh width and wire thickness.
In some cases, it is possible to produce gratings featuring the same mesh width and wire thickness yet different numbers of crimps. ProMetall crimp screens are produced in mats (smaller mesh up to a wire diameter of approx. 2.5mm also available in coils).
We primarily produce square mesh, but we are also able to supply rectangular mesh. Diagonally arranged mesh is a special shape that is mainly used for fences. The borders are open with wire overhangs. Crimp screens are typically used for fences, gates, staircase and balcony panels, machine protection etc.

In Austria, welded screens are also known as “stable screens”. In the production of welded screens, we use smooth pulled wires that are precisely and permanently spot-welded at right angles at the intersections.
