In 2015, the architect Ernst Giselbrecht and his team were faced with the challenge of raising a 50-year-old hospital to a contemporary standard, both from a functional and architectonic point of view.
The new functional tract which includes operating theatres and an outpatient area had to be integrated into the entire building. The aim was to meet all functional requirements and to use contemporary architecture to point out the competence and medical care at LKH Leoben. The topic old and new was perfectly implemented in the building’s architecture. The existing façades were redesigned, and the LKH was transformed into an architectural unit that takes functional requirements and design culture seriously. Folding sliding shutters ensure sun protection, ProMetall supplied powder-coated perforated metal sheets (perforation RT 3-5), thickness 3mm, another example of our creativity and flexibility. High-quality, elegant architecture focusing on the importance of health.
PERFORATED METAL SHEET – a new take on a classic
Perforated metal sheets have been produced in Europe since the late 19th century. In the past, perforated metal sheets were mainly used as sieve and filter elements and as protective plates in industry and machine construction. Creative designers and Western European product experts found new applications for the functional metal sheet – in the form of innovative designs for façade construction.
