The new cable car Sonnberg (10 people per car) connects the Aberg train’s valley station with Natrun and the new Natrun train.
The lift system by Doppelmayr is from the new cable car generation D-line. The Sonnbergbahn completes the long-planned, fully-fledged lift connection from the city centre of Maria Alm am Steinernen Meer with the ski resort Hochkoenig. The two new lifts extend the Koenigstour around the peak Natrun and are able to transport 2,000 people per hour across a distance of 1,271m.
As every year, the cable car had to start operation shortly before the start of the winter season. The time pressure presented an enormous challenge for all professionals involved; with up to 2,000 users per hour quality and reliability were top of the agenda. Hot-dip galvanised HIGH SOLID gratings type 31×31/30×3 were the perfect choice for the realisation of the system which started the new season on time, thanks to our team’s on-site efforts.
