SHOPPING AND LEISURE ALL IN ONE

In May 2022, the popular shopping centre eo in Burgenland received an attractive vis-à-vis, the eo park.

Together, they provide the perfect space for shopping and leisure with more than 70 leading trading companies, including high-quality catering and attractive services for over 2.6 million visitors per year.
The building was designed by the well-known Viennese architects Delugan Meissl Associated Architects in cooperation with Studio Singer. The operator, Rutter Immobilien Gruppe, has focused on sustainable architecture for many years – this is again evident in the new project. In Oberwart, the group invested in a climate-active material and plant concept, an animal-oriented green and open space concept and sustainable construction site management. ProMetall took on the role of material supplier and also offered an All-Inclusive-Service any principal would dream of: from advising architects to optimising the distribution of elements and installation planning to ready-to-install and punctual supply of the colour-coated expanded metal panels to the construction site.

These days, a shopping centre needs to be so much more than just a functioning building structure. It is all about the façade and the attention it draws. In this case, the chosen colour was an elegant, grey-white (RAL 9002) expanded metal type “PAG” and “Klagenfurt”, whereby “Pag” was installed with light incidence from above and “Klagenfurt” with light incidence from below. Maximum sun protection without loss of light, as dark sales bunkers are not in fashion any longer.

EXPANDED METALS – practical and elegant

Expanded metals and expanded grates are made of a single piece of metal to ensure there are no strands causing wear and tear and no weighed-down connections or welding seams. As a result, the sustainable, robust material exhibits significant strength and surface stability which makes it ideal for use in façade design. Various materials can be used, the mesh is generally diagonal, hexagonal, round or square, neither twisted nor welded. Depending on the type, various effects are possible. The material retains its inner stability even when it is cut. Due to their 3-dimensional character, façades made of expanded metal turn into “eye catchers”.
