Special features

The combination of mesh type and material quality was a special challenge for our production technicians; we managed to “overcome” the physical manufacturing obstacles by means of flexible tool adjustment.

AN INDIVIDUAL FRAME FOR AN ASH TREE GARDEN

At Stipcakgasse 8 in Liesing, an exclusive living project was created in accordance with the designs of architects Dietrich | Untertrifaller – a typical representative of the Vorarlberg school.

The name ash tree garden refers to the “city tree of the future“; it loves the sun and provides a lot of shade. The modern housing complex consists of two apartment blocks that are connected by an expansive landscaped garden and benefit from rooms filled with light and durable materials. Quality meets function, both inside and out.
The planners chose a special type of balcony panel as visual protection and formal shape, this choice turned into a physical challenge for ProMetall’s production technicians. We managed to meet this individual requirement on time via flexible tool adjustment in the production process. The expanded metal type “Braunau” was executed with adjusted mesh 90x35mm in 2mm pre-galvanised steel (+ RAL powder-coating). It provides visual protection for the complex’s residents and at the same time allows enough daylight for a natural room atmosphere. For those who want more than just a place to live.

EXPANDED METALS – practical and elegant

Expanded metals and expanded grates are made of a single piece of metal to ensure there are no strands causing wear and tear and no weighed-down connections or welding seams. As a result, the sustainable, robust material exhibits significant strength and surface stability which makes it ideal for use in façade design. Various materials can be used, the mesh is generally diagonal, hexagonal, round or square, neither twisted nor welded. Depending on the type, various effects are possible. The material retains its inner stability even when it is cut.
Due to their 3-dimensional character, façades made of expanded metal turn into “eye catchers”.
