Living quarters replacing an industrial estate –
at ProMetall this means: industrial gratings in a new design and a new look are transformed into modern balcony railings with a rectangular look, realised by ProMetall‘s gratings department
A FORMER INDUSTRIAL AREA IS TRANSFORMED INTO A SOUGHT-AFTER LIVING QUARTER
On the former Unilever grounds, a new project offers living comfort to various interest groups and an urban infrastructure that takes care of the most important needs.
The developers BUWOG and ARWAG built 600 new living units, approx. half of which are subsidised rental and SMART flats. While the individual apartment buildings within the Rivus complex are spread out across an expansive park, the commercial spaces – such as a full-day primary school, a nursery, a supermarket, a DIY store and doctor’s surgeries – are grouped around a 1,500 square meter piazza. All you need – just around the corner! The bordering Liesing stream invites you to go for a walk or jog, and for those who wish to leave the city behind, the countryside is just a short drive away.
The residential complex’s open character is reflected in the architecture. The planners wanted sophisticated open-space concepts with playgrounds and airy garage ramps as well as close coordination with the energy concept. Architect Peter Lorenz who planned the complex with BEHF architects and Hillinger Mayrhofer, also designed a high-quality façade oriented towards Breitenfurter Strasse. ProMetall’s in-house grating design department supplied a new design in the form of rectangles, realised as hot-dip galvanised type “55×22” plus ”99×99” plus ”99×22” / 30×2” with a flat frame. The rail panels glow in a new innovative look that gives the Rivus quarter an individual touch.
