1,100m² of ProMetall architectural expanded metals cover the large ventilation facility on the roof of the Hotel Mercure in Graz. Technical characteristic: despite the visual “dressing“ our project ensures the technically required air flow.
A HOTEL WITH A SNAZZY HAT
The revitalised Hotel Mercure Graz City at Lendplatz welcomes its guests in 28 modern rooms, located in the centre of Graz, near the old city, the farmer’s market and the Schlossberg. The aim was to hide the hotel’s huge ventilation facility on the roof and create a uniform modern and attractive look.
1,100 m2 of ProMetall architectural expanded metal were used for the project; they take care of the demanding job of aesthetically integrating the building into the neighbouring building landscape. The expanded metal cover also ensures the technically required air flow. An all-round victory. The result proves it is possible to subsequently integrate large, necessary technical installations and thus the entire building and thus add value to the environment. The trendy quarter on the left bank of the Mur has become even more attractive.
EXPANDED METALS – practical and elegant
Expanded metals and expanded grates are made of a single piece of metal to ensure there are no strands causing wear and tear and no weighed-down connections or welding seams. As a result, the sustainable, robust material exhibits significant strength and surface stability which makes it ideal for use in façade design. Various materials can be used, the mesh is generally diagonal, hexagonal, round or square, neither twisted nor welded. Depending on the type, various effects are possible. The material retains its inner stability even when it is cut. Due to their 3-dimensional character, façades made of expanded metal turn into “eye catchers”.
