WHEN SOCIAL SECURITY IS IN PERFECT HARMONY WITH GOOD LOOKS

The Federation of Austrian Social Security Institutions’ seat was opened in 2020.

After intensive examination of the building which dates back to the 1970s, a general refurbishment began at the start of 2018. The architects chosen for the project were the Parisian architects Chaix et Morel et Associes together with Christian Anton Pichler ZT GmbH; nowadays, the house of social security appears in a new light. The modern, sustainable building, which features optimum façade insulation and minimum energy consumption, has won numerous accolades.

Visually, the project is characterised by the clear structure of the existing building as well as the additions which makes a top-quality contribution to urban development with its arrangement, diffusion and the resulting views. ProMetall was instructed to execute the façade, including fascia cladding and cover for the view from below. We produced stamped aluminium elements that are up to 4.5 m high, special perforation type “Rt 10-20” to create a visual statement and ensure optimum shading. This project is yet another proof of ProMetall’s strength in design and precision, based on years of close cooperation with façade builders and architects. The result – another example of top-quality, sustainable and outstanding architecture in Austria.

PERFORATED METAL SHEET – a new take on a classic

Perforated metal sheets have been produced in Europe since the late 19th century. In the past, perforated metal sheets were mainly used as sieve and filter elements and as protective plates in industry and machine construction. Creative designers and Western European product experts found new applications for the functional metal sheet – in the form of innovative designs for façade construction. Perforated metal sheets are popular for visual protection of façades in modern residential, hotel and office complexes and are often used for staircases and balconies. Nevertheless, perforated metal sheet has retained its practical character in the design sector and is also used as sound insulation in building construction. Advantages, applications robust material, combines functionality with attractive looks, façade design in transparent look, to visual protection, staircase and balcony railings, suspended metal ceilings, ventilation technology, insect screens in residential buildings, sound insulation.
