Special features

ProMetall overcame the technical challenge of manufacturing all expanded metal elements with centred mesh to give the attic blinds at the main roof, the attic blind Bistro and the façade rounding corner of the building a “seamless” look; GOLD for first place and for the expanded metal façade’s colour which matches the building!

GOLD MEDAL FOR THE PERFECT SHADE OF GOLD

The idea was to retain a minimalist look for an office and commercial project in Traun, Lower Austria, and at the same time to represent varied architecture.

The architects chose a cube with three classic corners and a rounded fourth corner, thus giving the interior a new sense of space and providing the architecture with more dynamic. In accordance with the design, the attic blinds at the main roof and the Bistro were meant to gleam in one colour.

Yet the devil was in the detail, as is often the case when it comes to individual and unusual architecture, i.e. the implementation was more difficult than the planning. The idea was to create a façade with a “seamless” look, which resulted in lots of hurdles during the implementation. Nevertheless, ProMetall overcame the technical challenge of manufacturing all expanded metal elements with centred mesh to create that “seamless” look. The type “Gumpoldskirchen“, aluminium 1.5 + 2mm, special design “continuous mesh“ was used.

The perfect implementation of stylised and technical specifications had honourable consequences: The principal awarded ProMetall a virtual gold medal for the expanded metal façade’s colour which matches the object. Showing one’s true colours pays off!

EXPANDED METALS – practical and elegant

Expanded metals and expanded grates are made of a single piece of metal to ensure there are no strands causing wear and tear and no weighed-down connections or welding seams. As a result, the sustainable, robust material exhibits significant strength and surface stability which makes it ideal for use in façade design. Various materials can be used, the mesh is generally diagonal, hexagonal, round or square, neither twisted nor welded. Depending on the type, various effects are possible. The material retains its inner stability even when it is cut.
Due to their 3-dimensional character, façades made of expanded metal turn into “eye catchers”.
