Special features
Installation of the expanded metal panels with incidence of light from above = visual protection for the owner of the property when viewed from below at an oblique angle. Privacy thanks to ProMetall expanded metals. Technical challenge: each individual element had to be adapted to the different balcony widths and produced in actual measurements – 76 different measurements.
PROTECTED AGAINST PRYING EYES
At Friedhofstrasse, in Wiener Neudorf, a new residential building with a mix of 2, 3, 4 and 5 room-flats was erected.
All flats have their own outdoor areas such as loggias, balconies or terraces which create an attractive expansion of the living areas. On the road-facing side, the white building integrates beautifully into the existing streetscape and light bay windows with balconies lend the building its architectural structure. ProMetall was commissioned with manufacturing the balcony panels in expanded metal type “Schwechat” with the requirement to provide the highest degree of visual protection for occupants of the complex when viewed from below at an oblique angle. Each individual element had to be adapted to the different balcony widths. ProMetall manufactured 76 individual panels in actual measurements. This required the highest degree of precision and concentration during manufacturing and installation. Hats off to the manufacturing team and the metal manufacturer! The occupiers can enjoy their expanded living space without any worries.
EXPANDED METALS – practical and elegant
Expanded metals and expanded grates are made of a single piece of metal to ensure there are no strands causing wear and tear and no weighed-down connections or welding seams. As a result, the sustainable, robust material exhibits significant strength and surface stability which makes it ideal for use in façade design. Various materials can be used, the mesh is generally diagonal, hexagonal, round or square, neither twisted nor welded. Depending on the type, various effects are possible. The material retains its inner stability even when it is cut. Due to their 3-dimensional character, façades made of expanded metal turn into “eye catchers”.
