Special features
Special characteristics The special characteristic with this use of our expanded metal is in the two different ASSEMBLY DIRECTIONS – the expanded-metal elements were deliberately installed with the opening FACING UPWARDS, especially for the balcony panels, to create the highest level of VISUAL PROTECTION for the occupants when viewed diagonally from beneath!
In contrast to the elements for staircase railings, pergolas and garbage room cladding, where the elements were installed with the openings FACING DOWNWARDS to achieve high visual protection when viewed horizontally as well as transparency when viewed diagonally downwards…
1300 m² of ProMetall expanded metal with high use in manufacturing by our metal manufacturing partner result in the special, modern, visually efficient characteristic of the entire residential complex…
WHEN LOOKS AND FUNCTIONALITY DO NOT STAND IN EACH OTHER’S WAY
For the Salzburg architects Innerhofer oder Innerhofer architecture is more than just the realisation of a room or functional programme.
Architecture’s purpose is to support the community, enhance communication and thus serve people. Based on this philosophy, the residential complex Kreuzbrueckl was placed on the Salzburg housing market in February 2023 and is a further ProMetall reference for a stylish and proven exterior design in the sector balcony panels, staircase railings, pergolas and garbage room cladding. The tried and tested expanded metal type “Feldkirch“, a RAL-powder-coated aluminium expanded metal of 2 mm thickness which was processed in various sectors on a total area of 1,300 m2 was used for this project.
Even though only one product variant was chosen, creativity and smartness played an important role in the implementation process. For the balcony panels, the panels were installed with the openings facing upwards which resulted in the highest possible visual protection for the occupants of the residential units, especially when viewed diagonally from below. In contrast, the elements chosen for staircase railings, pergolas and garbage room claddings, were installed with the openings facing downwards to achieve high visual protection when viewed horizontally on the one hand as well as transparency when viewed diagonally downwards. The result: open spaces and functional areas that are visually attractive and at the same time extend the living area outdoors. For those who appreciate the added value of Salzburg’s air quality.
EXPANDED METALS – practical and elegant
Expanded metals and expanded grates are made of a single piece of metal to ensure there are no strands causing wear and tear and no weighed-down connections or welding seams. As a result, the sustainable, robust material exhibits significant strength and surface stability which makes it ideal for use in façade design. Various materials can be used, the mesh is generally diagonal, hexagonal, round or square, neither twisted nor welded. Depending on the type, various effects are possible. The material retains its inner stability even when it is cut. Due to their 3-dimensional character, façades made of expanded metal turn into “eye catchers”.
