SCORING THROUGH INDIVIDUALITY AND THE RIGHT DESIGN
As the Innsbruck-based architects Wiesflecker planned the residential complex Minkusfeld in Schwaz, they went for a unique and unusual design for the balcony panels.
ProMetall was commissioned to manufacture 100 different, white, 2mm perforated metal sheets type “RT 19-28” in special formats. The individual perforations were programmed and realised according to the architects’ design concept. The ready-to-instal panels including fastening holes were delivered in time and in a smooth fashion, which enabled the local metal manufacturer to effortlessly instal the panels onto the substructure by means of rivets. The result is a cutting-edge, aesthetic building of minimalist yet individual elegance that creates a welcome change from the oftentimes unimaginative residential architecture.
PERFORATED METAL - A CLASSIC WITH A NEW COATING
Perforated metal sheets have been produced in Europe since the late 19th century. In the past, perforated metal sheets were mainly used as sieve and filter elements and as protective plates in industry and machine construction. Creative designers and Western European product experts found new applications for the functional metal sheet – in the form of innovative designs for façade construction. Perforated metal sheets are popular for visual protection of façades in modern residential, hotel and office complexes and are often used for staircases and balconies. Nevertheless, perforated metal sheet has retained its practical character in the design sector and is also used as sound insulation in building construction.
