WHEN ARCHITECTURE MAKES REALITY EVEN MORE BEAUTIFUL
In 2010 the LKH Feldbach was expanded by the addition of another level to the Southern building.
The aim of the conversion, planned by Innocad, was to create a lighter, hotel-like atmosphere. This was achieved by means of a central communication area and waiting zone. All outpatient, therapy and service offices are connected and flooded with light from this central area. The rooms benefit from relaxing daylight, which is the result of the floor-to-ceiling windows opening onto a generous terrace. The expanded metal façade is used as sun protection but is also “interwoven” with flower pots whose design follows the form of the existing building and joins it to the new expansion. The façade unifies the entire building by connecting the old construction with the new extension. Another example of ProMetall’s successful cooperation with companies in the health sector who rely on the metal expert’s extensive product range.
EXPANDED METALS – practical and elegant
Expanded metals and expanded grates are made of a single piece of metal to ensure there are no strands causing wear and tear and no weighed-down connections or welding seams. As a result, the sustainable, robust material exhibits significant strength and surface stability which makes it ideal for use in façade design. Various materials can be used, the mesh is generally diagonal, hexagonal, round or square, neither twisted nor welded. Depending on the type, various effects are possible. The material retains its inner stability even when it is cut. Due to their 3-dimensional character, façades made of expanded metal turn into “eye catchers”.
