This was the follow-up project: following the huge success of the first expanded metal façade for Wienerroither in Klagenfurt, the owner family, as the principal, decided to run with this architectural solution again – this time for the new production plant, the largest in Carinthia.
WHERE TRADITION IS GIVEN SPACE
The name Wienerroither is more than just a brand – it is part of the Carinthian soul. As the “baker from the lake“, the bakery is part of everyday life in the region – a synonym for handicraft, quality and regionality. Values that find their architectural expression at the new location Moosburg.
The move from Poertschach to Moosburg results in the creation of Carinthia’s biggest bakery – planned by Weingraber & Prohart Architekten and realised in cooperation with Weissenseer Holz-System-Bau. The project displays the perfect balance of efficiency, sustainability and design precision. The new building uses wood as the central building material and thus emphasises the company’s ecological responsibility. The vertically structured wood façade creates a lively interaction of light and shadow, while a planted façade visually breaks up the building and connects it with its environment.
The owner family again chose an expanded-metal-façade type “Karlovac” (aluminium 2 mm, RAL-powder coating), supplied by ProMetall and implemented by Eder Blechbau,.as a striking construction element. This choice of material creates a clear reference to the brand’s existing architectural language and is a beautiful mark of sustainability and appreciation, as another ProMetall product was selected.
In addition to production, the building includes seminar rooms, offices and staff lounge areas. In the entrance area, a café with a terrace invites visitors to stay – a place where the Wienerroither tradition of togetherness lives on: with coffee, cake and a good chat. Thus, an area is created where architecture is not simply built, but it also lives. It becomes the stage for what Wienerroither has always stood for: handicraft, heart and home country.
