The architecture firm Gerner Gerner Plus designed light flats flooded with light mainly facing East and boasting balconies, loggias and terraces. The green inner courtyard that connects the living areas hosts a children’s playground and various bicycle parking areas cladded by a pergola made of expanded metal elements. On the road-facing side, the loggias on the ground floor flats are protected by flexible expanded metal elements. Interestingly, rather than choosing opaque visual protection, as is often the case in residential complexes, in this case the chosen material was an expanded metal type with high transparency of 50-70%, ProMetall expanded metal type “Graz“ which lets the balconies and dividing elements on the facades appear light. The entire ensemble looks more like a naturally grown structure than another unattractive block of flats similar to those often seen in urban areas.
