EVEN RUBBISH WANTS TO BE BEAUTIFUL EVERY NOW AND THEN

A newly-built residential complex in the Linz quarter of Oed features living areas as well as building equipment (which is usually not very attractive) that make hearts beat faster.

At Albert-Schoepf-Strasse look and quality took centre stage in the course of designing the outer facilities. A cover of ProMetall expanded metal type “Eisenstadt” houses all the rubbish bins which are positioned in the centre without disturbing the residential complex’s overall look. The facilities for bicycle storage areas which are also covered by 2-mm expanded metal made of aluminium ensure that the bikes are safe and have a defined place within the living area. Essential requirements in the outdoor area are often forgotten or not given huge importance. This is a pity as they are definitely part of the living experience.

EXPANDED METALS – practical and elegant

Expanded metals and expanded grates are made of a single piece of metal to ensure there are no strands causing wear and tear and no weighed-down connections or welding seams. As a result, the sustainable, robust material exhibits significant strength and surface stability which makes it ideal for use in façade design. Various materials can be used, the mesh is generally diagonal, hexagonal, round or square, neither twisted nor welded. Depending on the type, various effects are possible. The material retains its inner stability even when it is cut. Due to their 3-dimensional character, façades made of expanded metal turn into “eye catchers”.
