In cooperation with planners and architects, ProMetall is able to “beautify” any multi-storey car park – in this case with 1,200m² expanded metal, in special form and frame.
A CAR PARK THAT LOOKS LIKE A CATHEDRAL
Goldbeck Parking looks back on over 50 years of modern, stylish car parks in Germany and Austria. The objects are always tailored to meet the requirements of large cities and towns, a combination of urban architecture and innovative parking concepts.
The CAR PARK-project Sonnenallee 24 in Vienna was planned by the architects Freimueller Soellinger who made use of façade expert ProMetall’s many years of experience in creating façades for multi-storey car parks. The building was cladded with 1,200 m2 expanded metal type “Gumpoldskirchen“ (steel thickness 1.5 mm), whereby the shape of the attached façade elements continues the round arches of the ground floor, thus giving the entire structure a sacral touch. The colours are adjusted to the neighbouring building and as a result the monumental building merges with its surrounding, yet still sends a clear signal: car park architecture can be beautiful!
EXPANDED METALS – practical and elegant
Expanded metals and expanded grates are made of a single piece of metal to ensure there are no strands causing wear and tear and no weighed-down connections or welding seams. As a result, the sustainable, robust material exhibits significant strength and surface stability which makes it ideal for use in façade design. Various materials can be used, the mesh is generally diagonal, hexagonal, round or square, neither twisted nor welded. Depending on the type, various effects are possible. The material retains its inner stability even when it is cut. Due to their 3-dimensional character, façades made of expanded metal turn into “eye catchers”.
