EVEN JAMES BOND WOULD ENJOY SHOPPING HERE
The developer SPAR Austria set high standards for the shopping centre Fischapark and the result is stunning.
In a perfect cooperation, the product supplier ProMetall, the Austrian architects Architektur Consult and the Austrian façade designer SFL created Austria’s biggest expanded metal façade and set the stage for a shopping experience that extends over 40,000 m2. The exceptional façade gives the building an unusual, aesthetic look and makes it extremely easy to recognise. From the outside, wall areas and window areas and divisions appear blurred and seem to melt into the building – creating a homogenous look which is accentuated by the light gold / yellow tones on the back wall and the arrangement of white expanded metal elements placed in front of it. The massive construction appears modern and inviting and attracts a lot of attention.
EXPANDED METALS – practical and elegant
Expanded metals and expanded grates are made of a single piece of metal to ensure there are no strands causing wear and tear and no weighed-down connections or welding seams. As a result, the sustainable, robust material exhibits significant strength and surface stability which makes it ideal for use in façade design. Various materials can be used, the mesh is generally diagonal, hexagonal, round or square, neither twisted nor welded. Depending on the type, various effects are possible. The material retains its inner stability even when it is cut. Due to their 3-dimensional character, façades made of expanded metal turn into “eye catchers”.
