Austria’s motorway operator has trusted ProMetall design for many years – combined here: visual protection provided by expanded metals and transparency provided by perforated metal sheets
CORPORATE DESIGN TURNS INTO AN EYE-CATCHER
Austria’s motorway operator ASFINAG has successfully used ProMetall’s design and execution for many years.
For the 2009 rebuild / addition to the office building in Graz-Raaba the architects Architekturbuero W+G Wratschko selected anodised expanded metal (type “Amstetten”) for the façade design’s visual protection, while 2 mm perforated metal sheets in sleek grey, which integrates perfectly into the group’s logo, create the required transparency. The combination of expanded metals and perforated metal sheets creates the façade’s exciting, dynamic, top-quality look. Attractive views and perspective give a vague idea of what lies beneath, inside and around the building.
EXPANDED METALS – practical and elegant
Expanded metals and expanded grates are made of a single piece of metal to ensure there are no strands causing wear and tear and no weighed-down connections or welding seams. As a result, the sustainable, robust material exhibits significant strength and surface stability which makes it ideal for use in façade design. Various materials can be used, the mesh is generally diagonal, hexagonal, round or square, neither twisted nor welded. Depending on the type, various effects are possible. The material retains its inner stability even when it is cut. Due to their 3-dimensional character, façades made of expanded metal turn into “eye catchers”.
